🏛️ The Legend of BVLGARI Omnia Coral

Omnia Coral was launched in the spring of 2012 and became part of the legendary Omnia collection from the Italian house of BVLGARI. The composition was created by Alberto Morillas, one of the most decorated perfumers in the world. He was born in Seville in 1950, moved to Switzerland at ten, and studied at the Geneva School of Fine Arts. He came to perfumery at 20, inspired by an article in Vogue about Jean-Paul Guerlain. In 2003 he received the prestigious Prix François Coty. His real hits are Acqua di Gio for Armani, CK One for Calvin Klein, Flower for Kenzo, Daisy for Marc Jacobs, Pleasures for Estée Lauder, Gucci Bloom, Versace Bright Crystal and the entire Omnia line. He has participated in almost 7,000 compositions. It was Morillas who created the entire Omnia collection from the first fragrance in 2003 to the collaboration with Mary Katrantzou in 2021, a rare case of one perfumer leading a collection for more than 20 years.

🌸 The fragrance pyramid. Top notes are bergamot and goji berries. The heart is water lily, hibiscus and pomegranate. The base is musk and Virginia cedar. The fragrance belongs to the floral-fruity group. Hibiscus here is not a random choice, the brand specifically emphasized it as a key note, a tropical flower with tartness rarely found in mass-luxury. In BVLGARI press releases Coral was called a «watercolor, semi-transparent, tropical» fragrance, referencing a holiday atmosphere and the Italian coast.

💎 The bottle. The design concept of the bottle and packaging was developed by Fabrice Legros. The original bottle was distinguished by a pink-orange coral shade on the side facets. The design of two rings, symbolizing infinity and the connection of times, references the jewelry heritage of BVLGARI. In September 2023 the brand completely updated the bottles of the entire Omnia collection, including Amethyste, Crystalline and Coral, and launched the «Reveal Your Light» campaign. In the new design the two rings merge with each other, but one of them is removable, it is the cap under which the sprayer is hidden, and the junction is adorned with a rose gold trim. The fragrance formulas were not changed, and the old bottle became a collector’s rarity.

🎬 The campaign. The face of the original 2012 campaign was Danish model Josephine Skriver. The photographers were the legendary duo Inez & Vinoodh, the creative director Riccardo Ruini. In 2023, for the relaunch of the collection, the face of the «Reveal Your Light» campaign became Hollywood actress Cailee Spaeny, known for Sofia Coppola’s film «Priscilla». The commercial was directed by Eva Vik.

Several fragrances of the collection (Green Jade, Indian Garnet) were discontinued, while Coral, Crystalline and Amethyste survived and received new life in the 2023 relaunch.
