🏛️ The Legend of Versace Bright Crystal
This fragrance saw the light in 2006 and instantly became one of the most recognizable creations of the Italian house of Versace. The composition was created by legendary perfumer Alberto Morillas, inspired by the image of the modern woman — confident, sensual and refined.
🔮 Predecessor Crystal Noir. Bright Crystal is not the first «crystal» from Versace. In 2004 came Crystal Noir, dark and heavy, with coconut and tuberose. Bright Crystal was created as a light, pink alternative, and it was precisely thanks to the contrast with Noir that it received its «crystal» name.
👨🎨 Alberto Morillas — no newcomer to perfumery. His portfolio includes Acqua di Gio (1996), Flowerbomb, Bvlgari Omnia and dozens of other hits, as well as Good Girl Gone Bad for Kilian. Bright Crystal is one of his most commercially successful projects.
🌸 The Fragrance Pyramid. Top notes are yuzu, pomegranate and icy notes. The icy accord at the start is not decorative, it is exactly what gives the sensation of «crystal coolness» without which the fragrance loses half of its character. The heart is peony, lotus and magnolia, delicate and not cloying, and lotus adds watery transparency. The base is musk, mahogany and amber. Mahogany adds warm woodiness and distinguishes Bright Crystal from ordinary fruity florals.
💎 The Bottle. Pink, transparent, faceted — a reference to a gemstone, but not «in the shape of a crystal», rather faceted glass with a massive cap-stone and a medallion with the Versace Medusa.
How it sounds and wears. «Pomegranate lemonade with peony settling on warm wood» is a recognizable description. Yuzu gives a Japanese citrus spark, pomegranate gives a sweet-and-sour juiciness, the icy accord gives mineral freshness. The base is warm but not heavy, mahogany dries it out, musk embraces, amber warms. Concentration is Eau de Toilette. - Moisturise your skin before applying. On dry skin the fragrance fades faster than on moisturised skin.
