🏛️ The Legend of Kilian Paris Good Girl Gone Bad

Good Girl Gone Bad was launched in 2012 and joined the In the Garden of Good and Evil collection, a line inspired by the myth of original sin. Initially the collection consisted of three fragrances, In the City of Sin (perfumer Calice Becker), Forbidden Games and Good Girl Gone Bad (both by Morillas). Later it expanded, adding Playing with the Devil and Voulez-Vous Coucher Avec Moi, the latter in a black bottle with an elongated clutch, specifically so a modern smartphone would fit inside.

👨‍🎨 Kilian Hennessy. The house of By Kilian was founded in 2007 by Kilian Hennessy, the sixth-generation heir of the Hennessy cognac dynasty. Before founding his own brand, Hennessy was the olfactory creative director of Christian Dior, Paco Rabanne, Alexander McQueen and Giorgio Armani. He opened his first brand with the L’Oeuvre Noire collection («Black Masterpiece»), six fragrances united in three thematic pairs, The Ingenues, The Artificial Paradises and The Parisian Orgies. In 2016 the brand was acquired by Estée Lauder, the deal was completed in 2017, and Kilian remained creative director. The house name gradually changed after the acquisition, and the brand is now called Kilian Paris.

🌸 The author of the composition. The author of the composition is Alberto Morillas, one of the most decorated perfumers in the world. His real hits are Acqua di Giò for Armani, CK One for Calvin Klein, Flower for Kenzo, Daisy for Marc Jacobs, Pleasures for Estée Lauder and the entire Bvlgari Omnia collection. Hennessy says of the fragrances in his seductive category, «Fragrance is not only a weapon of seduction but also your protection». The bottles of this category are coated in white lacquer and adorned with an engraving of the shield of Achilles, a symbol of duality, attack and defense at once.

📦 The clutch with the snake. Each fragrance of the collection is packaged in a white lacquered box wrapped in a voluminous golden snake-tempter. The bottle can be taken out together with its nest, and the box used as a fashionable clutch. This is a direct reference to the black clutch collection in Art Deco style that Kilian released in 2010. Refills have been the brand’s principle since day one, all Kilian bottles are refillable, and a 100 ml refill always costs less than a full-size bottle.

The name of Kilian’s cognac collection (Angels’ Share) references cognac terminology, the «angels’ share» is the portion of spirits that evaporates through oak barrels during aging. This is Kilian’s first olfactory memory, the smell of the Hennessy cellars where he spent his childhood.
