🏛️ The Legend of Bvlgari Jasmin Noir
In September 2008 the Italian house of Bvlgari presented Jasmin Noir, a fragrance that became a separate chapter in the perfume history of the brand. It developed the jasmine theme started by Voile de Jasmin (2006) but showed the flower from an unexpected side. Instead of a light and transparent jasmine, a dark, nocturnal one, wrapped in warm wood and bittersweet darkness. The composition was created by perfumers Carlos Benaïm and Sophie Labbé from the house of IFF.
🌸 The fragrance pyramid. Top notes are gardenia and green notes. The heart is jasmine sambac and almond. The base is tonka bean, licorice, precious woods, musk, amber and patchouli. The composition opens with juicy greens and delicate gardenia together, while jasmine sambac with velvety almond forms the heart. The sweetness of the base comes from tonka bean and licorice, while patchouli adds an earthy depth.
💎 The bottle. Black lacquered glass with a golden cap, the design was created by Thierry de Baschmakoff. The advertising campaign was shot in Ibiza by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and the face of the fragrance became supermodel Kate Moss in a Bvlgari diamond necklace. All together, dark glass, golden highlights and bold beauty, made Jasmin Noir one of the most recognizable women’s fragrances of its time.
